Sealants are placed on the chewing surfaces of the teeth as a protective measure to protect against decay. Sealants can be placed on child, teen and adult teeth. We recommend sealants to be applied early in life once the first set of permanent molars develop.
Second molars are just as vulnerable as the first and we discuss this as a treatment option once the second molars start to appear. Adult teeth can also benefit from sealants. Sealants are odorless, are both clear and tooth color and tasteless. A sealant protected tooth is less vulnerable to decay.
